PMax Campaign Asset Specifications

Introduction

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the asset specifications required for Performance Max (PMax) campaigns.

Logo Specifications #

  • The maximum file size for any image is 5120 KB.

Square logo (1:1)

  • Recommended size: 1200 x 1200
  • Min. size: 128 x 128

(Optional) Landscape logo (4:1)

  • Recommended size: 1200 x 300
  • Min. size: 512 x 128 

Image Specifications #

  • File format: JPG, PNG, or GIF
  • Resolutions needed:

While Google Ads can resize uploaded images, here are the ideal pixel dimensions for each recommended aspect ratio to ensure the highest quality:

  • 1:1 (square): 1200 x 1200 pixels (minimum 300 x 300 pixels)
  • 16:9 (landscape): 1200 x 628 pixels (minimum 600 x 314 pixels)
  • 4:3 (landscape): 800 x 600 pixels (minimum 480 x 360 pixels)
  • 2:3 (portrait): 600 x 800 pixels (minimum 300 x 400 pixels)
  • Safe area: Maintain a 10% safe area around the edges of the image to ensure text and logos are not cut off on different ad placements.
  • File size: Less than 5MB

Image Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Do:
    • Use high-quality images that are relevant to your product or service.
    • Use clear and concise messaging.
    • Include a strong call to action (CTA).
  • Don’t:
    • Use blurry, pixelated, or low-resolution images.
    • Include too much text or clutter in the image.
    • Use images with copyrighted material.

Video Specifications #

  • File format: MP4
  • Resolution: Minimum of 640×360 pixels (HD resolution preferred)
  • Aspect ratio: Primarily 16:9 (landscape).
  • Consider including a few videos in 4:3 (landscape) for specific purposes.
  • Square (1:1) and Portrait (9:16) formats can be used for very specific ad concepts, but prioritize 16:9 for optimal performance.
  • Length: Between 6 seconds and 15 seconds (optimal length is under 10 seconds)
  • File size: Less than 1GB

  • Do:
    • Create high-quality videos that are engaging and relevant to your product or service.
    • Use clear and concise messaging.
    • Include a strong call to action (CTA) at the end of the video.
  • Don’t:
    • Use blurry, pixelated, or low-resolution videos.
    • Include too much text or clutter in the video.
    • Use videos with copyrighted material.

Additional Notes #

  • It is recommended to provide a variety of images and videos in different sizes and aspect ratios to improve the performance of your PMax campaigns.
  • Google recommends using at least 20 images and 5 videos per campaign for optimal performance.
