Spotted this new Google Maps/Business review test today while doing my normal spot checks. Google has added a new “blank state” avatar for reviews on Google Business pages. While before it was merely a fake headshot, it’s now a bit more stylish using the first letter of the first name of the reviewer. Personally, I wonder if there is something new brewing in the Google Business review section to make it easier or more transparent in leaving a review. With the changes happening in Google+ it’s perhaps a sign of more changes to come with the area of local reviews.

Have you seen something similar? Let me know on Twitter.
