Google has already committed to building its own car insurance portal, but other updates may be soon here with Google Adwords as well. Dr. Pete spotted the following test in action that shows Google’s own car insurance portal running a sponsored ad with exclusive extensions. Featuring extension that allows for you to enter a zip code, the new car insurance portal from Google may continue to take out real estate and click-throughs from other competing Adwords advertisers in the car insurance space.

In addition to the zip code box, Google’s own ad also features a number of insurance providers and their respective logos — making their ad appear more legitimate and valuable than the Progressive ad above. It’s worth keeping an eye on these Google ad areas even if they don’t impact your niche — you never know when Google will make an aggressive move into alternate verticals like travel or mortgage loans.
