John Lincoln of Ignite Visibility posted this image yesterday on Twitter, showing Google is continuing to test mobile search results. While the colored bars under each result have been baked into mobile results for a few weeks, this separator between the URL and meta description is brand new.

It certainly compresses the search results, making only 3 organic results show up on John’s search here on a mobile device. I’m not a fan of this increase either and think it visually breaks up the search results too much between title tag, URL and meta description. However, with Google launching a mobile algorithm over the next few weeks, it’s likely we’ll see more testing throughout April and May as they tweak search results and layouts to their liking.
