Here’s the default/standard Google Ads campaign settings I often use when building new Vacation Rental targeted search ads.

At first, we use either Max Clicks OR manual eCPC until we’re getting enough conversion data to swap over to Max Conversions/Max Conversions Value.

We focus on search + search partners only. Display network expansion increases clicks, sure, but the quality is TOO LOW.

Typically (this may vary based on client) we’re targeting US-only at first, make sure that you check “Presence” and do not leave on interest based location targeting.

Typically I add in 3-5 audiences at first – observation only – to monitor if any bid adjustments may make sense in the future. I usually focus on: Vacation Rentals, Houses For Rent, Hotels & Accommodations as well as Luxury Travelers, Family Vacationers, Outdoor. If the area is large enough, there may also be an audience for that specific region.
