Granting Access To Google Ads Manager

Purpose: This SOP outlines the step-by-step process for clients to share their Google Ads Account ID with BuildUp Bookings so that we can send them a Manager Account (MCC) link request for account management.


Step 1: Explain the Purpose of Sharing the Google Ads Account ID #

  • Inform the client why their Google Ads Account ID is needed.
    • Example explanation: “We need your 10-digit Google Ads Account ID to send you a link request from our Manager Account. This will allow us to manage your campaigns efficiently while you retain full control of your account.”

Step 2: Guide the Client on Locating Their Google Ads Account ID #

  1. Ask the client to log into their Google Ads account at ads.google.com.
  2. Once logged in, direct them to the top-right corner of the interface.
    • The Account ID is a 10-digit number displayed near the profile icon. It will look like this: 123-456-7890.

Step 3: Confirm the Correct Account ID #

  • Request that the client double-check their Account ID to ensure they are providing the correct one.
    • Tip: Suggest they copy and paste the ID into the email or message to avoid errors.

Step 4: Client Shares the Account ID #

  • Ask the client to send their Google Ads Account ID via email or a secure messaging platform (Basecamp).
    • Email template:
      Hi [Client’s Name],
      
      Please reply to this email with your 10-digit Google Ads Account ID so we can send you the MCC link request.
      
      Example format: 123-456-7890

Step 5: Send the MCC Link Request #

  1. Log into the BuildUp Bookings MCC account.
  2. Go to “Tools & Settings” > Access and Security > Linked Accounts”.
  3. Select “Send Link Request” and enter the client’s 10-digit Account ID.
  4. Click “Send” to complete the request.

Step 6: Notify the Client to Accept the MCC Link Request #

  • Inform the client that a link request has been sent to their account.
    • Email template:
      Hi [Client’s Name],
      
      We’ve sent a link request from our Manager Account to your Google Ads account. Please follow these steps to accept the request:
      
      1. Log into your Google Ads account at [ads.google.com](https://ads.google.com).
      2. Navigate to **"Tools & Settings" > Access and Security > Managers"**.
      3. Find the request from "BuildUp Bookings" and click **"Approve"**.
      
      Once approved, we’ll have the access needed to begin optimizing your campaigns.

Step 7: Verify the Link in MCC #

  1. After the client approves the request, confirm that their account appears in your MCC dashboard.
  2. Check the access level to ensure it matches the requested permissions.

  • Notify the client that their account is successfully linked.
    • Example:
      Hi [Client’s Name],
      
      Thank you for approving the link request! Your Google Ads account is now connected to our Manager Account. We’ll begin optimizing your campaigns right away.

Additional Notes: #

  • If the client experiences difficulties locating their Account ID or approving the link request, schedule a quick screen-sharing session to guide them.
