Editing Process Checklist

Here’s a quick overview of our editing process for blog articles we receive from freelance writers. For specifics on many of these aspects, follow the links to the appropriate video walk-thrus.

  • Article received by freelancer or Writer Access (check video tutorials for differences)
  • Review writer brief
  • Review article on Clearscope (fill in relevant missing keywords)
  • Copy/Paste or open on Google Docs
    • For articles from freelancers, create doc in client’s blog folder (found in shared Google Drive folder “Clients + Projects.” From folder, navigate to correct client, within client, open up “Blog + Other Content” subfolder)
    • For articles from WriterAccess, open their doc directly (can leave in that folder)
  • Read for intent based on brief
  • Read for tone (these are travel articles so light, fun, and personable)
  • Read for grammar, spelling, clarity
  • Fact-check anything necessary
  • Check that headers are correctly used & consistent
  • Keep paragraphs short. Use bullet-points when needed.
  • Read once more for easy readability & any lingering issues.
  • Internal linking (3-5 links)
    • Link to homepage or specific booking page (do not link to single homes but areas)
    • Link to relevant blog articles
  • Title, URL, Meta Description, & Category Tags (when applicable)
  • Copy Google Doc link & paste into Airtable
  • Switch status of article to “in publication”
