Here’s a quick overview of our editing process for blog articles we receive from freelance writers. For specifics on many of these aspects, follow the links to the appropriate video walk-thrus.
- Article received by freelancer or Writer Access (check video tutorials for differences)
- Review writer brief
- Review article on Clearscope (fill in relevant missing keywords)
- Copy/Paste or open on Google Docs
- For articles from freelancers, create doc in client’s blog folder (found in shared Google Drive folder “Clients + Projects.” From folder, navigate to correct client, within client, open up “Blog + Other Content” subfolder)
- For articles from WriterAccess, open their doc directly (can leave in that folder)
- Read for intent based on brief
- Read for tone (these are travel articles so light, fun, and personable)
- Read for grammar, spelling, clarity
- Fact-check anything necessary
- Check that headers are correctly used & consistent
- Keep paragraphs short. Use bullet-points when needed.
- Read once more for easy readability & any lingering issues.
- Internal linking (3-5 links)
- Link to homepage or specific booking page (do not link to single homes but areas)
- Link to relevant blog articles
- Title, URL, Meta Description, & Category Tags (when applicable)
- Copy Google Doc link & paste into Airtable
- Switch status of article to “in publication”
